Hi everyone!

I’m Dr. Eva McKinsey – a researcher, educator, facilitator, doula, and transformative justice practitioner dedicated to building healthy and accountable families and communities. I live in Honolulu, HI.

As an applied social and community psychologist, I am fascinated by the question of how to be in right relationship with one another and the world around us. I believe we can do better, and build a kinder, more loving society where individuals, families, and neighbors can thrive.

I’m particularly interested in our society’s approaches to addressing harm and violence. Our current approaches are misguided and often cause further harm. That’s why I’ve spent the past six years researching interventions and practices—like growth mindset interventions and trauma-informed practices—that have the potential to shift our society toward more transformative forms of justice, accountability, and healing.

I am also a birth and postpartum doula, supporting families as they welcome little ones into this world. I believe supporting families through one of the most joyous and exciting, but also potentially scary and overwhelming, times is a form of care that is essential to building healthy, loving, and strong communities.

I look forward to working with you!

Eva’s work is guided by a deep knowing that…

Radical dreaming, love, and community care can transform our world.

It is possible to address harm and violence through methods that do not cause more harm and violence.

People make mistakes. AND people can change.

It matters how little ones enter into this world.

Supporting families is essential to building healthy, strong, and accountable communities.
